Beginning January 6th, 2008: there will be no Sunday School on the first Sunday of the month, which will allow families to worship together and children to participate in Communion during worship.
Sometimes Jr. High and Sr. High activities are together, other times we do events separately. We welcome all youth grades 6 through 12th grade to participate in our activities.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Only A Boy Named David”

Daily VBS Arts Camp 2010 UPDATE:

Total enrollment: 22.Total volunteers: 23 (of these 7 were youth):  John Abuya, Carol Adkins, Erik Adkins, Pat Barnhouse, Dave Bertelsen, Jerry Goehring, Christy Gust, Elaine Gust, Ellen Johnson, Jake Kandel, Joe Kandel, June Knowlton-Sengpiel, Fay Lewis, Kelly Louk, Debbie Prahl, Jade Rogge, Mary Rogge, Bettie Schuler, Shirley Simmons, Mystique Thompson, Jenny Tsuzuki-Korbar, Marge Wendt, Betsy Winquist.

Day 1 of DVBS Arts Camp emphasized music. We sang lots of old and new songs.

Mr. Dave played his drums and Mr. John played the piano.

We made musical instruments and played them as we sang.

Our Bible verse: I will call unto the Lord.  Psalm 18.3.

Day 2 (Art): We made life-sized figures of ourselves and posted them against the “stone” wall (made by Carol Adkins), and put our footprints on cloth (we stand firm upon the Rock, Jesus). Our Bible verse:  Don’t be afraid, I am with you always.  Matthew 20.8.

Day 3 (Drama) Miss Christy and Miss Ann presented skits of the right and wrong way to act.

The children quickly chose the correct way to handle bullies and who was bullying.

The children volunteered to perform in skits.

Parents and children went to the sanctuary for a short worship program to end the camp.

The children donated $55.43 for Haiti earthquake relief.

The footprints will be made into a quilt to be sent to the Methodist orphanage in Port-au-Prince.

The women’s Friday quilt group has volunteered to tie the quilt. (We will display it at church after completion.)

Jenny Tsuzuki-Korbar and Marge Wendt made a life-size Goliath.  Each student has their picture taken with the giant and was given the photo with a certificate of completion.

Daily snacks were served in the classrooms and recreation time was spent playing supervised games in a sectioned area of the parking lot.

We are all looking forward to next year!  (submitted by Marge Wendt)
