Sermons on the Web!

During Lent the Sunday sermons will be a series of reflections on the prodigal son story in Luke 15.  The problem with a series is that missing one piece it can make it hard to catch up with what follows.

So, since it’s sometimes impossible for folks to be present at every service, the weekly sermons will be posted on our Fifth Avenue website at faumc.org. That way if you miss a week, you can read the sermon you didn’t hear.  Click here for the listing!

It’s my hope and prayer that these reflections will help us all grow in our faith as we move together through Lent toward our Lord’s passion.

                                                            PASTOR JANIS

Book Study Group to Begin!

The spring book study group at Wagners will be studying Max Lucado's book, John 3:16. Max leads readers through a word-by-word study of John 3:16, the passage that he calls the "Hope Diamond" of scripture.

The study will last 12 weeks beginning (possibly) March 30 - June 22.The study is open to all church members and class will meet on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:00pm.

Please sign up on the book study sheet in the north foyer or call Barb at 338-3315 by MARCH 7 so books may be ordered.

    Book cost is approximately $11.50.

  The Dead Sea Scrolls

The display of the Dead Sea Scrolls at the Milwaukee Public Museum continues through April and May.  Some folks have expressed an interest in seeing them and we’d like to do that on April 20th if there is enough interest.  Also, Pastor Janis had the privilege of studying with one of the first translators of the Scrolls so she has information she’d like to share about the Scrolls and what they have contributed to our understanding of the Bible.

The cost for admission will be $25.00 plus an approximate extra $10 for the bus rental.  Scholarships will be available for anyone needing help, but lunch will be on our own.

There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the narthex.  We need at least 25 people in order to take this trip and the deadline for registration is April 1, 2010.

        Annual Salad Luncheon

This year's salad luncheon will take place on Saturday, March 20th. Food service will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

The menu will include our United Methodist Women’s FAMOUS hot turkey salad, and any other delicious salads provided by our wonderful church ladies.

Tickets will again be $7.00 and will be for sale after church services on starting Feb. 27/28, in the church office, or at the door. This luncheon will be offered to the public as well as members of our congregation.

If you can donate a salad, a sign-up sheet will be posted in the north entrance. All profits will go to their missions.

Thank you all for your participation!
