Welcome to our worship!  We invite visitors to take a  popcorn packet and church brochure (located at the Visitor’s Center in the north entrance).

If you would like more information about our church, please talk to Pastor Janis or Reverend Thompson.

After the 9:00  service,
we welcome you to join us for fellowship time in the lounge.

We are a welcoming Christian community where all can experience the saving grace of Jesus Christ.  We are growing as disciples of Christ as we teach, support, and nurture one another in ministry to our community and world.

ORDER OF WORSHIP
Seventh Saturday of Easter

PRELUDE     “Alleluia! Sing to Jesus” by R. Vaughn Williams      John Abuya, Organist

WORDS OF WELCOME AND COMMUNITY CONCERNS
Quiet Preparation for Worship  TFWS #2214

*OPENING HYMN  #98              “To God Be the Glory”

*CALL TO WORSHIP    (Psalm 68, paraphrased)        (Responsively)
Leader:    Let the righteous be joyful; let them exult before God; let them be jubilant with joy!
People:    Sing to God, sing praises to God’s name; lift up a song to the One who rides upon the clouds; exult before the One whose name is Lord!
Leader:    In the holy habitation, God is father of orphans and protector of widows.  God gives the desolate a home and leads prisoners out to prosperity.
People:    Ascribe power to God, whose majesty is over all, whose power is in the skies.  Wondrous is God who gives power and strength to God’s people!

*PRAYER OF INVOCATION

CALL TO CONFESSION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION                    (Unison)
Lord God, you heap your love upon us like a parent providing for a family’s needs, embracing a child with tenderness.  Forgive us when, like spoiled children, we treat your generosity as our right, or hug it possessively to ourselves.  Give us enough trust to live secure in your love and to share it freely with others in open-handed confidence that your grace never runs out.  Amen.

WORDS OF ASSURANCE

HYMN RESPONSE  #500        “Spirit of God” (v. 1)
Spirit of God, descend upon my heart; wean it from earth; through all its pulses move; stoop to my weakness, mighty as thou art, and make me love thee as I ought to love.

THE OFFERING
Offertory         “O Love That Will Not Let Me Go”        Earl Roland Larson
*Presentation of Gifts and Doxology  #94
Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise God, all creatures here below:  Alleluia!  Alleluia!  Praise God the source of all our gifts!  Praise Jesus Christ whose power uplifts!  Praise the Spirit, Holy Spirit!  Alleluia!  Alleluia!  Alleluia!
    *Prayer of Dedication
    *Affirmation of Faith #885    (Unison)
Leader:      Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is the one true church, apostolic and universal, whose holy faith let us now declare:
People:        We believe in God the Father, infinite in wisdom, power and love, whose mercy is over all.  We believe in Jesus Christ, Son of God and Son of man, the gift of the Father’s unfailing grace, the ground of our hope, and the promise of our deliverance from sin and death.  We believe in the Holy Spirit as the divine presence in our lives whereby we are kept in perpetual remembrance of Christ and find strength and help in time of need.  We believe this faith should manifest itself in the service of love as set forth in the example of our blessed Lord, to the end that the kingdom of God may come upon the earth.  Amen.

SCRIPTURE READING    John 17:1-11     (pg 111 in NT)

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.  Amen.

HYMN RESPONSE #393          “Spirit of the Living God”
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.  Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.  Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me.  Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
